First Brush Shampoo and the Only One I Will Use
I own only E.L.F makeup brushes and have oily combination skin so I need to clean my brushes to reduce acne breakout but I don't want to spend loads of cash on a brush cleaner so I purchased this one over the summer and not only am I still on the first bottle I have barely made a dent in the product and I clean my brushes once a week at least. This will be the only brush cleaner I will ever use due to the price and the quality of the product.

Disappointed. Really disappointed.
This came in one of the mystery packages and I was really happy about that because I'd been intending to try it for a while. Now I know most of you will be appalled to hear this, but I had never washed any of my brushes before. Ever. And I have a blush/powder brush that I have used for over 30 years. Yup. 30 years of blush. And I have to tell you, no acne on my cheeks, and no eye infections from my unwashed eye shadow brushes, either. Of course I'm not a makeup artist, and I don't use a cream or liquid foundation. If either were the case I'd be more concerned about it. But I digress. Basically, it ruined my favorite brush. Yes, it got out a lot of old product. Almost all of it. I was slightly grossed out but certainly impressed. It also left my bristles soft. Very soft. Very, very soft. So soft that they "buckle" when I try to use the brush. I followed drying instructions, so I don't think that has anything to do with it. I'm really quite sad about it. It was my favorite brush, natural bristles, and was a gift. I may try washing again with a different product, but I certainly won't be using this again.

Not great
I had high hopes for this product, but I found that it didn’t remove as much makeup from my brushes as other brush cleaning products. I won’t purchase again.

Cleans My Brushes Thoroughly
I love this brush shampoo, it cleans my brushes so well. I use it with the e.l.f. Brush Cleaning Glove and my brushes are always so clean, I don't get breakouts from the brushes. You don't need alot at all, one bottle has lasted months with cleaning my brushes weekly, it's such a great value for the price. Will continue to only use this shampoo to clean my brushes. It cleans sponges and blenders well too!

Great shampoo for brushes!
I love how using a small amount can get all the makeup off my brushes. Works as well as any shampoo but a small amount is great than using almost half the bottle like some shampoos out there. Will buy more!

Cleans brushes effectively
A little bit goes a long way to clean even the dirtiest brushes. This cleaner leaves brushes clean with no film or scent left behind.

Works pretty well
Works pretty well and I don't have to use too much to clean a brush. I use this with a textured mat and scrub each brush until water is clear. Should probably wash my brushes again now that I think about it.

Great for higher quality brushes
I've seen a few reviews that stated it doesn't clean as well as other products and I have to disagree. While the "lather" isn't strong in this product doesn't mean it isn't doing a good job. I own a wide variety of brushes from $1 -$30 and it cleaned all of them very thoroughly. A good lather doesn't mean a good cleanser and lather can be very damaging to anything that should retain quality or moisture. Lather is the cause for alot of split ends in you hair and you can imagine what that can do to makeup brushes as well since the bristles don't shed and regrow. A few of my brushes did seem "mangled" after use due to them becoming so soft they lost their shape but after applying a light oil that is frequently used on my skin they returned to their original shape and work just as good as a brand new brush. I do think the misshapen features were do to using a textured brush pad but that was easily remedied.

Ok product
I bought this after using Dawn soap on my brushes and sponges and was not a fan of the product. It doesn't really clean my brushes well so I always have to rewash them with other soap. On thr other hand, it's a great product for sponges.

What is the difference between the brush cleaner and brush shampoo? are they essentially the same thing or provide different benefits?
Nikkk
The brush cleaner is a spray meant to be used daily for a quick clean. You do not use water with it, all you do is spray the dry brushes and wipe them off on a towel and repeat until the brushes have no more product. The brush shampoo is meant for a deep clean. You wash the brushes with soap and water, and obviously they need time to dry (usually takes a full day of sitting out for me), so you wouldn't do this every day. I have both the cleaner and the shampoo. I don't use makeup everyday but I try to use the spray brush cleaner after every time I use my brushes. I do a full shampoo of my brushes every few weeks or until they start to look like they need a shampoo, but the spray cleaner works well in the meantime when I can't use the shampoo.
